Privacy policy

HomeOrAbroad (“we”, “us”) runs homeorabroad.com, a free comparison site with estimated trip costs. We don't sell anything directly, we don't take bookings or payments, and you don't need an account to use the site. This policy explains the small amount of data involved and your choices.

The short version

• We collect your email address only if you sign up for the newsletter.
• Affiliate partners may use cookies to know that you came from us when you click a booking link.
• Our host keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
• We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.

Newsletter (Beehiiv)

If you subscribe, your email address is collected by our newsletter provider, Beehiiv, which stores it and sends the newsletter for us. Beehiiv may also record whether emails are opened or links are clicked, and the signup form may set its own cookies to measure where subscribers come from. We use this only to run and improve the newsletter. The signup form loads only when you scroll to it. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Affiliate links and Travelpayouts

Some links (for example the “Book this trip” buttons for flights, tours, travel insurance, eSIMs and airport transfers) are affiliate links run through the Travelpayouts network. When you click one, Travelpayouts and the partner site (such as Aviasales, Tiqets or Klook) may set cookies or use similar tracking to record that the visit came from us, so we can be paid a commission if you book. The price you pay is the same. We also load a Travelpayouts script on our pages that keeps these links working and may convert some ordinary travel links into tracked affiliate links. We receive aggregated reports (clicks, bookings, commissions), not your name or payment details. Once you're on a partner's site, its own privacy policy applies.

Hosting and server logs (Cloudflare)

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare automatically processes technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. This is used to deliver pages, keep the site secure and diagnose problems. We don't combine it with other data to identify you.

Things stored on your device

If you choose a departure city with the “Flying from” switcher, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage so other pages remember it. It never leaves your device, and you can clear it by clearing your browser's site data. We don't run our own advertising or analytics cookies. If we add privacy-friendly analytics later, we'll update this page first.

What we don't do

• We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information.
• We don't show third-party ads or build advertising profiles.
• We don't collect payment details. Bookings happen on partner sites.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and email us to ask what we hold about you or to delete it. Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have extra rights to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use. We'll respond within 30 days.

Children

The site is meant for adults planning travel and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
